Coastal Communities

Exceptional Coastal Living

When purchasing a home, the community is just as important a consideration as the real estate itself. Each area of San Diego offers something special. Here are some of my favorite coastal communities which offer unique charm and sophistication.

Del Mar

The coastal city of Del Mar offers perfect weather, beautiful beaches, and of course, prime real estate. Located about 20 minutes north of downtown San Diego, Del Mar offers a warm community feel combined with a luxury lifestyle. A small city of only 4500 residents, homes range from historical beach cottages to sprawling hillside estates commanding panoramic ocean views. Real estate opportunities abound for every taste and budget in the city of Del Mar.

Del Mar's sandy beaches are some of the top in the country, enjoyed by families and surfers year round. Torrey Pines State Reserve is a favorite for hikers and bicyclists, while golfers enjoy ocean views from the world-reknowned golf course. The Del Mar Thoroughbred race track brings visitors each summer, while the locals enjoy concerts at the park, dog beach, and of course the county fair.

"The Village" of Del Mar is a quaint and friendly with over 60 shops and restaurants, and the world class L'Auberge Hotel. Quite often you'll see a wedding on the bluff at SeaGrove Park, or gatherings of friends and family at Powerhouse Park. There truly is something for everyone in the very special city of Del Mar. Please watch the video below for the true Del Mar experience.

Rancho Santa Fe

Secluded among eucalyptus trees, the homes in Rancho Santa Fe are some of the world's most desired real estate. Made up of equestrian properties, sprawling estates, and elegant homes, the real estate in "The Ranch" is highly coveted by those looking for serene lifestyle, close proximity to the coast, and excellent schools.

Solana Beach

Solana Beach is a charming seaside community about 30 minutes north of downtown San Diego.  A favorite destination for those looking to enjoy eclectic shops, a variety of dining options, a casual atmosphere, and a bustling nightlife.  The Cedros Design district is a favorite spot for home decor and high-end salons and boutiques.  The Belly Up Tavern hosts a myriad of nightly musical artists. The train station is in the heart of the town, making commuting a breeze.  The beach at Fletcher Cove is frequented by swimmers and surfers, and the coast is lined with gorgeous homes and condos.

La Jolla

La Jolla is known as San Diego's "Jewel by the Sea."  Surrounded on three sides by the ocean and backed by the steep slopes of Mount Soledad, La Jolla's coastal profile and quaint village lifestyle evoke a Mediterranean feel. With its array of luxury homes and phenomenal scenery, La Jolla is one of San Diego's most exclusive beachside communities.

Rancho Santa Fe

Just east of Del Mar lies the master planned community of Carmel Valley. The first homes were built in 1983, and since that time the area has matured into a place where thousands of happy residents live, work, and play. Families with children are attracted by the large homes, community parks, and award winning schools. The Highlands shopping center is favorite spot for shopping, dining and entertainment. Easy access to downtown, the beaches, and the nearby biotech and research companies make this a perfect location to live.
